His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius Episcopa, Diocesan Bishop visited the St. Luke’s Mar Thoma Church, Margate, Florida- 33063 on October 22-23, 2011.
On 22nd October, Thirumeni lead evening worship service (Sandhyanamaskaram) followed by a devotional message based on St. Mark 10:17-22. Thirumeni based his devotional message on the rich man’s question ‘what must I do to receive eternal life’? And Jesus’ response ‘go and sell all you have and give it to the poor’; come and follow me. Thirumeni exhorted us to ‘breathe in’ God and ‘breathe out’ Satan.
On 23rd October, Thirumeni conducted the Holy Communion Service in English. During the service 12 of our youth members received First Holy Communion from Thirumeni. Family Sunday was also celebrated. Meditational message was based on St. Mathew: 12: 50. Message was about what constitute a family? Family is a place where members live together in harmony, in relationship with other, where love and unity is maintained in fellowship with God. After the service, the first communicants were given certificates.
On 23rd October after Holy Communion Service St. Luke’s Mar Thoma Church celebrated its 16th Parish Day. Thirumeni blessed with his presence and presided. Mr. Chacko Mathew (Diocesan Treasurer) and Mr. Varghese P Varghese (Diocesan Council Member) were also present in the Parish day celebration. Thirumeni delivered parish day message, spoke about the relevance of the Mission and Ministry of the Church and exhorted parish members to be more responsible in sharing the blessing received from God. Newly updated Parish Directory was also published by Thirumeni. There was a luncheon fellowship organized by the first communicants. It was followed by a photo session.
All church organizations presented various programs. Mr. Chacko Mathew gave felicitation address. Vicar, Rev. Thomas Mathew addressed the members and emphasized the need of growing more in Christ and wished the best for the church in the years to come.
Thirumeni found time to visit the sick, aged and bereaved families of our Parish. On Saturday and Sunday the Diocesan Episcopa stayed at the Parsonage. Diocesan Episcopa also met the members of the Parish committee and examined the report.
