Portland Mar Thoma Congregation

The visit to Mar Thoma Congregation, Portland by the Diocesan Episcopa in 2011 was from June 23 to 25. Mar Theodosius with the Vicar Rev. Binu Varghese travelled from Seattle to Portland and visited Origen on 24th June. There was a prayer meeting at the residence of Mr. M. C. Mannen and Mrs. Sarah Mammen.

Tirumeni’s message based on Philippians 2: 15 enabled an evaluation over the personal and congregational life of the people. On discussing the parish concerns the need to satisfy all aspects pertaining to Visa processing of Achens were shared by Tirumeni. The Mar Thoma members of that area decided to join the Seattle Mar Thoma parish and remain as a prayer group of the aforesaid parish, till the numerical number grows to the required minimum for parish formation.

Tirumeni conducted Holy Qurbana service at the Prince of Peace church and spoke on the ‘Righteousness of God’. This was followed by a General Body Meeting where the congregation took a formal decision on the matter proposed by the members of the prayer fellowship. The Diocesan Episcopa informed the congregation that the matter will be informed to the Mar Thoma parish in Seattle. After Kaimuth service there was a breakfast fellowship for all present.
