Ordination of Rev. Alex Koleth

ORDINATION OF REV. DN ALEX GEORGE KOLATH
Dallas Farmers Branch Mar Thoma Church became the venue for the Kassesssa ordination of
one of the two persons chosen by God from the Diocese of North America and Europe to
become the clergy of the Mar Thoma Church. Rev. Dn. Alex G. Kolath was the first fruit of this
parish which through the ordination service started the spiritual journey to fulfill His purpose and
participate in the establishment of the Kingdom of God. Rev. Alex G. Kolath is the son of Mr.
George Kolath and Mrs. (Late) Mary Kolath.The Kassissa ordination took place on Saturday,
30th July 2011. The service of ordination was presided over by the North America and Europe
Diocesan Episcopa Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius. Rev. Mathew Joseph ,Rev.
Varghsese Mathew P., Rev. A. P. Noble, Rev. Shibi Abraham, Rev. Dennis Abraham ,Rev. K.P.
Thomas, Rev. George Varghese , Rev. Jaisen Thomas , Rev. Thomas ( C.S.I Church) and the
vicar Rev. Minoy N. Kuruvilla were present.

Rev. Dr. Joe Joseph Kuruvilla, presently the Youth Chaplain at Philadelphia region represented
the Vaideeka Seminary at Kottayam, where achen as a seminary teacher was able to be a Malpan
for Rev.Alex G.Kolath.
The service started with the procession at 7. 30 am with the hymn “Sanayin Yehove…” from
church compound to the sanctuary.

All achens along with Rev. Dn. Alex G. Kolath participated in the procession. During the service
Rev. George Varghese gave the devotional talk. The Kaississa ordination service was a blessing
for all those who attended it. Members from sister parishes of Dallas area, Oklahoma, Kansas,
Lubbock and all around USA attended this blessed service. During this service Rev. Dn. Alex G.
Kolath affirmed his faith and later he was blessed and raised to the status of Kaissisa. The
ordination service part came to a close when a copy of the Holy Bible was given to him on
behalf of the Metropolitan and the vestments after consecrating it.

Around 350 members participated in the Holy Communion service and receiving the elements
from the Bishop and newly ordained achen brought tears of joy in the eyes of Mr. George Kolath
and all his relatives. A public meeting was organized by the Parish to felicitate Rev. Alex G.
Kolath. Dallas Farmers Branch City Mayor was the chief guest during this ceremony.

Special song was sung by the Farmers Branch combined choir composed by Mr. M. J. Andrews.
The choir leaders Mr. John R. Abraham and Ms. Ashlin Kolath deserve a special appreciation.
On behalf of the church, parish secretary Mr. Anwar Achenkunj gave a felicitation speech and
trustee Mr. Abraham Mathew and Mr. Jacob Varghese presented the parish gift to the newly
ordained minister. Representing Sunday School Mr. V.T. Abraham, one of achen’s Sunday
school teachers shared the word of appreciation.

A plague was handed over to Rev. Alex G. Kolath by the vicar Rev. Minoy N. Kuruvilla and the
vice president Mr. Eapen Thomas .Youth Fellowship members Mr. Robin Abraham and Ms.
Julie Pannachakunnel presented a token of love to achen. Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar
Theodosius Episcopa gave a brief sermon encouraging and challenging the newly ordained
minister .Tirumani from the Gospel of St .John chapter 21 exhorted all to evaluate themselves,
that does the love and passion for Christ exist in the same manner when we started following
Jesus, while reciting the verse “Do you love me …more than these”. Kolath family presented a
kappa to Rev.Alex G.Kolath. Mayor expressed his wishes to Rev. Alex and for His ministry.
Rev. Alex, in reply thanked all who prayed, supported and work hard for this ordination service.
He asked further prayers for the new journey which he has started. Meeting came to an end with
the prayer by the vicar and benediction by the Diocesan Episcopa. Lunch was served for all.
