Sunday, March 18, 2012 is a very memorable day in the life of the Hermon Mar Thoma Church, Atlanta. Our Diocesan Episcopa, Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius visited our church and conducted the Holy Communion service. We had 9 First Communicants.
Thirumeni blessed them and spoke from the Word of God based on Luke 13: 15 referring to the healing of a woman with infirmity in the synagogue. Thirumeni emphasized the real meaning of Sabbath, explaining it as Jubilee and liberation.
All the parish members as well as several guests and well wishers attended this great occasion. On a public function after the communion service, the vicar Rev. Thomas Mathew welcomed the Episcopa and commented his leadership and pastoral concerns.
In his presidential address Thirumeni appreciated the First Communicants and distributed the certificates and greeting cards. The choir was singing melodious songs. The fellowship lunch was hosted by the parents of the first communicants.
The service started at 9.30 am. After having the communion service, public meeting, photo session and lunch, Thirumeni found time to meet the executive committee members. The Episcopal visit was a blessed and memorable event for all.
