In honor of Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius Episcopa
A felicitation and fellowship prayer meeting in Honor of Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, The Bishop of the Diocese of North America and Europe of the Mar Thoma was held on Friday December 9th 2011 at the Sinai Mar Thoma center New York. The meeting was held at the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of Thirumeni’s Episcopal Consecration.
The meeting was attended by the Clergy in the North East region, the Sabha Council members from the Diocese and the Diocesan council members from the North East Region. The meeting was an occasion for everyone to thank Almighty for the Episcopal ministry of Theodosius Tirumeni. The Mar Thoma church and the community at large have received abundant blessings of God through our Bishops. It was also an occasion to pray for Theodosius Thirumeni to have more of God’s blessings in the future ministry and to be a continued blessing to all. The Meeting also remembered Rt. Rev. Geevarghese Mar Athanasius and Rt. Rev. Dr. Euyakim Mar Coorilos. All the three Bishops were consecrated on December 09, 1989.
Meeting started with a song and prayer by Rev. Geevarughese Kochummen. The Diocesan Secretary Rev. K. E. Geevarghese felicitated Thirumeni and welcomed the gathering. Rev. Mathew Varughese (Vicar St. James MTC) gave the devotional talk. Sabha council Member Dr. George Jacob and Rev. K. C. Varughese (Vicar Carmel Mar Thoma Church Boston) gave felicitations. Rev. A. B. Binu (Vicar Long Island MTC) led the intercessory prayer.The Attendees felicitated Thirumeni for the Blessed Ministry, Missionary and Visionary Leadership with prayer which was the key factors in the growth and development of the dioceses where Thirumeni gave leadership. Thirumeni’s dedication and commitments towards the mission projects, strong and strict Administrative policies, Accountability at the Diocesan and parish level, new initiatives in all the Dioceses were highlighted by the people who felicitated.Thirumeni’s approach and leadership in facing the challenges in the North America including the immigration policy change, youth involvement and participation, financial and administrative discipline, production of electronic study materials, Ecumenical leadership, revision of the English liturgy, purchase of the adjacent property, development of the Mexico Mission, center based community initiatives were all mentioned in the felicitation.
In the reply speech Thirumeni thanked all the clergy and laity for their prayers and support. Thirumeni reminded everyone that God has called us with a special purpose in whatever responsibility they are entrusted with. Thirumeni also reminded that the ministry will only become meaningful if we understand the community and their needs wherever we are.
Diocesan Treasurer Mr. Chacko Mathew Offered the vote of thanks. Rev. Biju P Simon gave the Closing prayer. Meeting concluded with Thirumeni and Varghese George Achen cutting the cake. Rev. Varghese George was celebrating his 23rd year of ordination. There was a fellowship lunch at the newly purchased facility at 2000 Carman Court.
