Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, the Diocesan Bishop of Mumbai was in Goa for Episcopal visit and for inaugurating the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the Goa Center on July 24, 2016.
Thirumeni conducted Holy Communion Service at 8:30 am at Panaji Mar Thoma Church. During his message, Mar Theodosius emphasized the need to give our best for the best of others and also to touch the lives of the underprivileged. Almost all the families were present in the communion service. After the Holy Qurbana, a function was organized to welcome the Bishop. Diocesan Treasurer Mr. P. K. Achenkunju, Rev. Sunil George Mathew and Evg. Robin John were also present.
Rev. T. S. John welcomed Thirumeni and other guests. The church choir sang welcome songs both in Syriac and Malayalam. Dr. P. K. John, the Vice-president gave the felicitation address and recollected the important mile stones of the parish during the last 25 years from its inception. He also remembered the time when Thirumeni had come to Goa in the formative years of 1990-91.
As a part of ‘Going Green project’, His Grace presented a mango sapling to Mr. Thomas Varghese. Then Thirumeni addressed the gathering and inaugurated the Jubilee Celebrations. Secretary Mr. Tony Johnson proposed the vote of thanks. The meeting came to a close with prayer and benediction by Thirumeni.
Then there was a meeting of the office bearers of the parishes in Goa arranged by the Diocese, in which Thirumeni presided over. Diocesan Treasurer Mr. P. K. Achenkunju explained the ongoing projects and mission works of the Diocese. In this meeting there were around 30 representatives from four parishes in Goa. There was a discussion on the matters regarding fund raising for the projects.
The meeting ended with prayer by Rev. Sunil George Mathew and benediction by Thirumeni.
