Ecumenical meeting in Navi Mumbai

The Maharashtra Malayalees Christian Association (MMCA) in which Mar Thoma Church is a member organised an ecumenical gathering at the Little Flower Syro-Malabar Church, Nerul, Navi Mumbai on Saturday April 29th 2017 at 7.00pm. The President H G Thomas Mar Alexandrios Metropolitan presided and various Christian denominations of Kerala origin participated in this meeting called, Easter Meet. The Rt. Rev. Joseph Mar Barnabas Episcopa of the Mar Thoma Curch was the Guest of Honour. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius Episcopa with a group of achens and members represented the Mar Thoma Church.

 

After the opening Worship, Dr. James Thomas read the Scripture portion from the gospel of St Mathew 28: 1-8. Rev. Fr. Shibu Pulickal, Vicar of the Little Flower Church , welcomed the Dignitories and other members of the gathered community.  Metropolitan Mar Alexandrios gave the Presidential Address and Mar Barnabas Episcopa gave the Easter Message. Mar Theodosius, the Diocesan Bishop of the Mar Thoma Church in Bombay gave the felicitation message. There were about 5 choir groups from the various denominations who also gave special songs. An Ecumenical Choir was formed with the members from various parishes and they added joy by rendering melodious songs, specially selected and learned for the occasion.

 

The meeting concluded with a fellowship meal for all the members present . MMCA is now running a guidance Home by name Swanthanam which is mainly meant for the cancer patients and their relatives who come for treatment to the  Tata Cancer Institute in Mumbai. All the member parishes are supporting this cause and are now looking for a plot of land in the vicinity.
