Ecumenical Fellowship 2011

Four bishops from the various Christian denominations and a hundred members from the Mar Thoma parishes of the North and South east regions attended the meeting and participated in the fellowship dinner. The Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius presided over the meeting.

The meeting started with an opening worship and by singing the song “The Church’s One Foundation.”

The Diocesan Secretary Rev. Vinoy Daniel welcomed the gathering. The Diocesan Bishop gave the presidential address emphasizing the need for ecumenical gathering and strengthening the fellowship. Bishop George Ninan gave the first felicitation of the evening and spoke about the incarnational ministry of the church and the significance of ecumenism and mission. Bishop Johncy Itty spoke next on the involvement of the churches in the National Council of Churches of Christ in USA; and how the churches are able to dialogue with national leaders and be involved in the ministry of healing in a fractured world. The ecumenical gathering also welcomed Thomas Mar Eusibius Metropolitan, the new bishop of the Syro Malankara Catholic Exarchate of U.S. His Lordship responded by speaking on the high priestly prayer of Jesus highlighting the significance of unity that is required among the Christian denominations.
