Consecration of St. Stephen’s Mar Thoma Church, Kalewadi

The St. Stephen Mar Thoma Church had the consecration of their new place of worship led by the Diocesan Episcopa, Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 8.00 am. His Grace Thomas Mar Anthonios of the Malankara Catholic Church was the co-celebrant along with a large number of Achens.The new place of worship is situated at Kalewadi near Pune in a plot having 8000 square feet area. The parish came in to existence on June 01, 2006. The foundation stone was laid by the Rt. Rev. Joseph Mar Barnabas Tirumani on October 26, 2008. This parish had 8 Vicars and the present Vicar is Rev. Dr. P. T. Jacob. The parish has a membership of 49 families.The consecration service was followed by the Holy Qurbana. Rev. Saji Joseph, the Diocesan Secretary gave the devotional address based on Genesis 28. Around 600 members from the various Mar Thoma parishes and sister churches participated in the service. A large number of people participated in the Holy Qurbana as well. The Parish Choir assisted the parish with the songs.His Grace Thomas Mar Anthonios Metropolitan, Very Rev. Kuriakos Cor-Episcopa, Rev. K. K. Kuruvila and representatives of the various parishes brought felicitation to the newly consecrated Parish. The church was represented by the Sabha Council member Mr. A. T. Roy, Diocese by the Diocesan Treasurer Mr.  P. K. Achenkunju and the Diocesan Episcopa Mar Theodosius, in bringing the Messages.  Mementos were presented and Mr. T. S. Thomas gave the Vote of Thanks. The public meeting came to a close by prayer and benediction at 12.30 noon.

The members present joined for Community Meal after receiving the Kaimuthu from the Bishop.
