“Come and Dine” programme at Kalyan ( W )
Inaugurating the “Come and Dine” programme at Kalyan (W) Mar Thoma Church on Monday December 18th at 12.30 noon. This is a neighbourhood programme to know the hungry and welcome them for food to the church premises.
‘Come and Dine’ programme is now organized by the Senior citizens of the Kalyan (W) Mar Thoma Parish . The senior members cooked food in their homes and brought to the church. The meeting started with prayer by the Diocesan Secretary Rev. Gigy Thomas. This has the support of the achens / parishes / organizations in Kalyan area.
Out of the fifty packets prepared, thirty was given out at lunch time. The frequency of providing meal will increase. It will pick up momentum in the days to come. A refrigerator window / shelf scheme is proposed to keep the food for those who come in the evening.
A Church is to be a welcoming and caring community without border. This is now a model for other parishes in the Diocese to follow.
