Bike Rally by the Navajeevan Center, Mumbai

Nav Jeevan Centre of the Diocese of Mumbai of The Mar Thoma Church has organized a Bike Rally as part its Advocacy programme from Bombay to Maramon Kerala from February 07 to 15, 2017, as a way of advocating for the protection of girls.

“The birth of a girl is in the design and purpose of God. Preventing her birth or selling her is a sin against God” says Bishop Geevarghese Mar Theodosius of the Mar Thoma Church Diocese of Mumbai. He also speaks out on the sin of human trafficking: When economic logic leads to girls being sold or ending up in prostitution, “this is not in the plan of God,” he says. “The way of Jesus is to protect life and enable people to have abundant of life.”The inauguration was held at Upavan Lake shore, Thane West on Feb 7th at 8 am. The Guest of Honour was Mrs. Rupaiya Ambure, Superintend of Police, Thane.  The purpose of the rally is to support the Navjeevan Centre’s campaign “Save A Girl Child and Stop Human Trafficking”.The Diocesan Bishop,  Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius,  Presided over the inaugural meeting and gave the Presidential Address.  Mrs. Rupaiya Ambure delivered the Inaugural Address. Mr. Sabu Daniel, Director, Navi Mumbai Transport Corporation and Dr. Roy John Mathew, Chairman of Charms Group spoke on the occasion. Rev Issac G Varghese, Director of Nav Jeevan welcomed the gathering and the Treasurer Mr. Thomas Chacko gave the vote of thanks. Rev. Thomas K Mathew and Rev. Gigi Thomas offered the prayers.After the Coffee Fellowship, Rev Sheejo M Abraham, Asst Director of Nava Jeevan Centre invited the Bishop and the Superintend of Police to cut the ribbon and to flag – off the Rally. There were a number of clergy, members of the Church and friends from public present to witness the occasion.Almost thirty parishes in and outside Bombay are supporting the cause. The Yuvajana Sakhyam of the Mar Thoma Church is joining hands with Navjeevan. The rally will go through various places in Bombay, Pune, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala. They will be received in Maramon, Kerala, by the Metropolitan of the Mar Thoma Church at the Maramon Convention on Wednesday, 15 February.

 

This is a significant event in the Mar Thoma church and is marking History in her Mission.
