BHOOKHA NA RAHE KOI AN INITIATIVE TO ENSURE NO ONE SLEEPS HUNGRY

Hunger, Bhookh, Vishappu – A concern in any language doesn’t look at aspects of gender, race, nationality, denomination before it creeps in.

It is a dire need of the hour that we should sensitize ourselves to this issue of all times. Understanding this need, the North Bombay Mar Thoma Parish(NBMP), moved ahead in the direction of feeding the hungry, in and around our church vicinity. When the logistics were discussed, needs shared, sponsors contributed to this noble cause.  We had a refrigerator and microwave in place in no time.

This initiative saw the light of day, on January 1st, 2018. What better way, what better day than the first day of the year for a new Beginning, whenRt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius Episcopa, inaugurated our vending machine. Our church members volunteered to make over 120 sandwiches, puribhaaji, and muffins to stock up the vending machine for this day. Around 150 parishioners were present in unification to support this big day for the Church. On the first day itself, we were able to cater to over 40 individuals that included, transgenders, street children and a few differently abled.

The NBMP assures good nutritious food to all those who approach, not one leaves the premise unsatisfied. This vending machine promises to provide food for all the needy ones, throughout the year, through cloud and sunshine. We look forward to being able to tend to many more in the days to come.  Requesting you all to remember this initiative in prayer and act on it should your heart compel you to.
