The 20th annual APDM retreat was held on October 14-16, 2011 at the Ocean Plaza in ocean Grove, NJ. The retreat was attended by APDM families and the conference theme was “I know the plans, I have for you” (Jeremiah 29: 11).
The retreat was inaugurated by the Diocesan Episcopa Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius on Friday, October 14 at 6 pm. He focused on following the will of God and submitting to Him completely who works out everything for the good of those who believe in him. Dr. Alex Thomas, in his presidential address, welcomed everyone and reminded everyone what a pleasant future God has prepared for all of us. Dr. Thomas Abraham made a presentation looking back into the last 20 years of APDM and its activities. The Saturday morning devotion was led by Rev K.C. Varghese, Vicar of Boston Mar Thoma Church who talked about theology and medical ethics. Rev. K. E. Geevarghese, Diocesan secretary presented theme focusing on seeking the will of God. He also led a Bible study in the evening.
Conference participants gave CME lectures. Dr Mercy Kurien spoke on Photopheresis, Dr. George Varghese talked about Diabetis & Kidney Disease, Dr. Mohan Abraham gave insights into the End of Life Care, Dr. Sam Thampi gave an update on pain management and Dr. John Abraham spoke on the connection between Science & Religion. There was a talent show, witnessing and mission activities led by Dr. John Abraham by Saturday evening. The Holy Qurbana was conducted by Rev. K. E. Geevarghese, on Sunday, October 16th at a chapel in Ocean Grove. In his sermon, Achen exhorted everyone to take a new dimension in life, a new path and fellowship with Christ by reorientation of priorities and not just being materialistic and merely superficial in seeking Jesus.
