Mexico Mission -Colonia Mar Thoma A Tree for a Family
The Tree for a Family project was conducted on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Colonia Mar Thoma, Mexico. Mr. P.T. Abraham and Mr. John Thomas led the project with a team consisting of Mr. Mathew Jacob, Diocesan assembly member, Ms. Arlene Mathew, Diocesan council member, and three youth fellowship members from Immanuel MTC Houston.
The tree-planting day began with prayer. Coconut, mango and other fruit trees were distributed to the residents at Colonia. The concept is to enable each family to plant and rear a fruit tree for their income and for others in the community.
The team members then
assisted the residents in planting and watering the trees. In total 38 trees were planted. The team also interacted with the children and residents at Colonia by playing soccer and kickball, followed by a fellowship lunch.
The day concluded with a singing session, prayer and message by Mr. Mathew Jacob, based on Luke 13:6-9.
