Diocesan Council March 19, 2011

The meeting of the Diocesan Council was held on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Detroit Mar Thoma Church. The meeting began with a song followed by a prayer by Theodosius Thirumeni.

Theodosius Thirumeni welcomed and invited Rev. K.E. Geevarghese to lead the devotion. In the devotion, Achen highlighted Numbers 13: 33-34 and Chapter 14: 6-7 around the theme of “Perception”.
The Diocesan Secretary, Rev. Vinoy Daniel, welcomed Theodosius Thirumeni, Rev. K.E. Geevarghese, Diocesan/Bishop’s Secretary-designate, Rev. Philip George, Mr. Chacko Mathew, and all the other Diocesan Council members to the meeting.

The Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, delivered the Presidential Address. Thirumeni noted the tragic situation in Japan and advised that we will review a resolution about this later. Thirumeni also noted that the Church has elected three priests to the Episcopal office. A resolution will also be brought forward in regards to this matter.
Thirumeni noted that the Church is celebrating the 175th anniversary of Reformation.
The Diocesan Council planned the details of the forthcoming Diocesan Assembly and planned the election procedures for the Diocesan Council, for the new term 2011-2014.

The Diocesan Council organized a farewell meeting to Rev. Vinoy Daniel, the Diocesan Secretary and Rev. Philip George, the Diocesan council member who are on transfer by the end of April 2011. The members of the council express their appreciation to the commendable service rendered by both and wished them well, in the new assignments. The new Bishop’s secretary, Rev. K. E. Geevarghese was given a warm welcome. There was a dinner fellowship in honor of the above mentioned persons.
