Navodaya movement-Awareness programs
The following awareness programmes were organized at various places on the ministry of the Mar Thoma Church to the Transgender Community (Navodaya movement).
National Seminar at the Mar Thoma Theological Seminary Kottayam on February 8 & 9. This was a seminar on the national level bringing together students and staff of the various Theological colleges, particularly in southern India. The Metropolitan of the Mar Thoma Church, The Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma inaugurated the program. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius Episcopa, Dr. George Zechariah, Dr. Kalki Subramaniam (Pollachi), Smt. Anshi Zechariah, Dr. Josemon (Medical College, Kottayam), Rev. Blysu Varghese, Rev. Shiby Varughese, Rev. Vinith Mathew presented the papers. Representatives of the transgender community participated in the program and narrated their experiences. It was a learning experience for all who attended the seminar.
A joint meeting of Navodaya movement with the Adoor Diocese of the Church was held at the Easow Mar Thimotheos Memorial Spirituality Centre, Adoor on February 10, 2018 at 2 p.m. The Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Mar Paulo’s, Diocesan Episcopa presided over the meeting. The theme was presented by Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, Hon. Minister Adv. Mathew T. Thomas, Dr. Kalki Subramaniam, Rev. K.C. Varghese and a representative from the social justice department of Kerala. The meeting was well organized and the clergy with parishioners attended the program.
The Maramon convention invited Mx. Celin Thomas, Delhi and Mx. Sreekutty, Kerala to speak at the Yuvavedi on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 4.30 p.m.
Metropolitan Thirumeni presided and inaugurated the meeting. The president of the Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Theethos spoke on the occasion. A large crowd at the Maramon Convention keenly listened to the experiences of the two guest speakers and the suggestions they put forward. This meeting had a good impact on the public as the news media highlighted the event and a large cross section of the people came to attend.
A joint meeting with the Kottarakara Diocese of the church met at the Mar Thoma Episcopal Jubilee Mandiram Kottarakara on February 20, 2018 at 9 30 am.
The Metropolitan Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma blessed the occasion with his presence and message. The Diocesan Episcopa, Dr. Euyakim Mar Coorilos, presided over the meeting. Shri. T. P. Shreenivasan , IFS, Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, Dr. Alfred Samuel ( Medical), Dr. P. J. Alexander IPS, Shri. Anil Chilla, Mx. Sreekutty and Rev. Philip George spoke on the occasion. An overflowing crowd attended the meeting and joined in their fellowship lunch.
The Executive Committee of the Navodaya Movement met to evaluate the awareness programs and to decide on starting a training center and office at Chengannur.
