Visit to St. Stephens MTC, Marol

Mar Thoma Voluntary Evangelists’ Association, Mumbai Centre Fifth Sunday Fellowship meeting and Holy Communion was held at St. Stephens Mar Thoma Syrian Church, Marol on Sunday, 30th April 2017 at 9 am under the auspicious leadership of the Mumbai Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius Episcopa.  The Holy Communion service started with an opening song “Vannidenam Yesu Naatha Inni Yoga….” followed by first and second lesson readings.The following vicars/clergy participated in the Holy Communion:

Rev. K. P Johnson, Vicar of Vasi Parish.

Rev. John George, Vicar of Mira Road parish.

Rev. Paul Jacob, Vicar of Nalasopara Parish.

Rev. Abraham Varghese, Vicar of Tarapur and Virar Parish.

Rev. Mathews George, Youth Chaplain.

Rev. Joel Thomas, Diocesan Bishop Scretary.

Rev. James George, Vicar of Marol parish and Rev. Sabu Koshy, Vicar of Malad parish were unable to attend the fellowship meeting because of ill health.

Offertory was collected for “Save a Heart” project of the Mumbai Diocese.  Later Thirumeni gave a brief message based on the epistle John 24:6-8.

Confession prayer was led by Rev. K. P Johnson prior to the second part of the Holy Communion service.  Approximately 200 people participated in the Holy Communion lead by Thirumeni and assisted by Rev. Joel Thomas.  The Holy Communion service was concluded by 10:30 with the benediction of Thirumeni. There was a short tea break just before the beginning of the second session during which light snacks and tea were served.

In the second session, annual general body meeting of the Mumbai Centre Mar Thoma Voluntary Evangelists’ Association (MTVEA) was held to present annual report, accounts and elected the following office bearers for the year 2017-2020:

Secretary:                    Mr. Sunny John, Malad Parish.

Jnt. Secretary:             Mrs. Bina Abraham, Vasai Parish.

Treasurer:                    Mr. Varghese Samuel, Borivili Parish.

Organizer:                   Mr. C. M. Samuel, Santacruz Parish

Diocesan Rep.:            Mr. Koshy John

Mrs. Annamma SamuelA special offertory was collected to support the students of Dharma Jyothi Bible Institute – Faridabad, Navjeevan Centre – Murbad, Bible College Students at Lonawala and students at tribal hostels of Maharashtra.The meeting concluded with the blessing and Kaimuthu of Thirumeni by 12:30 p.m.  Lunch was served to all the participants.Even though, the number of participants was less than expected, the fellowship meeting was a blessed one and the presence of the Diocesan Bishop added grace to the entire program.

A stall was set up with prior permission in the church premises by the Navodaya Movement of the Mumbai Diocese for fund raising of their various projects.
