Visit to St. James Mar Thoma Church, Ullas Nagar

It was a day of honouring senior citizens when Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, the Diocesan Episcopa, visited the St. James Mar Thoma parish at Ullasnagar on Sunday November 20, 2016.

The Rev. Niju Thomas, the Vicar of the parish, with the office bearers, welcomed the Diocesan Episcopa at 8 a. m. After the Thooyaba Service, Mar Theodosius arranged the ‘thronos’ to begin the Holy Qurbana service at 9am. The parish choir sang melodious songs in Malayalam, English, and Hindi. After the first part of the service, offertory was collected for the ‘Save a Heart ‘ programme of the diocese. Those who came for birthday and wedding anniversary Thanksgiving Service were blessed.

Mar Theodosius did the sermon from St Luke 1: 36f and spoke about the Commitment and Obedience of Virginia Mary.  Three first Communicants came forward for the dedication Service. A large number of people participated in the Holy Qurbana. There was an honouring of wedded couples who completed 40 years and above, along with recognizing the Senior citizens. Mar Theodosius and Rev Niju Thomas spoke on the occasion.

The choir welcomed the bishop with a Song sung in Syriac and the parish welcomed Tirumani by giving a tree sapling. The activities of the diocese were briefly mentioned when Mar Theodosius exhorted the members to support all activities of the diocese. The members received the Kaimuthu while the choir sang the Marathi song of Thanks giving and participated in the Fellowship meal organized by the first communicants and the parish. The Episcopal visit was a time of Joy and enriching experience for all present. The office bearers thanked the bishop for gracing the occasion.
