Episcopal Visit to the Mar Thoma Congregation, Himmat Nagar
Himmat Nagar, a place of 90 minutes’ drive from Ahmedabad on the Delhi High Way, has about 12 Mar Thoma Families. They have bought a land in the name of the church and have constructed a place of worship. The Rev. Raju Ancherry serves as their Vicar now.
The Episcopal visit was scheduled for the evening of October 8th. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius went to Himmat Nagar from Modassa accompanied by the three Achens, Revds. Raju Ancherry, D. Sunil and K. C. Santhosh.
All the members came together for worship. They are a singing Congregation using the musical instruments as well as clapping of their hands. The Holy Qurbana commenced at 5 pm and Mar Theodosius spoke on the relevance of living the Gospel. 2 Timothy 2:8 was the text for meditation. The day was observed as a Family Sunday and the members came as families to take part in the Holy Qurbana. They were reminded that church is the family of families.
There was a meeting of felicitation after the worship service, as Mar Theodosius was visiting this Parish for the first time. There was also the kaimuthu service. All the members expressed their Joy in meeting the new Diocesan Episcopa along with the achens. All praise be to God for a lively Congregation of the Mar Thoma church in Himmat Nagar, Gujarat.
