National historic sites are places of great importance to Canadians
Banff National Park is the birth place of Canada’s national park system. It was established in 1885 around the warm mineral springs at the Cave. The name Banff comes from Banffshire, Scotland, birthplace of a major financier of the Canadian Pacific Railway.
Bow falls, Banff Park Museum National Historic Site, Johnson Lake , Vermilion Lakes and Tunnel Mountain trails are some of the places that attract the attention of Tourists.
Lake Louise gained its present name in 1884 after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, the sixth child of Queen Victoria. The early Stoney people knew it as the “Lake of the Little Fishes”. The Lake, Glaciers trail, Bow River Loop are some of the attractions here. The spectacular landscape of the area is a good setting for winter sports and celebrations.
The Trans- Canada Highway divides the forest and disturbs the wild life. To redeem the situation arched shaped bridges covered with trees are built across the highway for wild life to cross. This allows bears, wolves, elk, deer and other wild life residents to safely cross the highway.
This is a place of Tourists attraction, all through the year, particularly summer.
